THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The SIR, the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll, has been completed in Kerala. The final electoral roll will be published tomorrow. Ahead of this, the Central Election Commission has called a meeting of political party representatives in the state today.
The Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in the state, which had 2.78 crore voters, began in November. The draft electoral roll was released on December 23. It included 2.54 crore voters. The Election Commission issued notices to 36.88 lakh voters saying that their documents were not correct and called for evidence collection. Those who provided documents will be included. Those who did not will be excluded. Those who had names earlier and were excluded from the draft electoral roll released on December 23 will be given the opportunity to add their names by submitting a new application. Those in the draft electoral roll were given time until January 30 to submit applications, including for corrections and change of address. The final electoral roll to be released tomorrow will consider that as well. The applications received for adding names and corrections will be scrutinised and included in the final list. Applications received after January 30 will be considered only after the final list is released. The Commission has informed that the eligible candidates will be added to the supplementary list.
