THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say R Sreelekha will not be travelling with the BJP councilors group of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation going to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The group, including Mayor V V Rajesh, will leave for Delhi on the Kerala Express train at 12.30 pm today. The councilors and municipal panchayat presidents will also be in the group.

Reports say M R Gopan and Sreelekha are not in the group. The BJP leadership explained that the two had informed that they were unable to join the team due to illness of their mothers. However, the BJP councilors responded that they are not sure whether Sreelekha would arrive by air. The councilors said everyone took the tickets together for the train journey. The meeting with Modi is on Thursday.

It is reported that the main objective of the visit is to ensure direct support of the central government for the projects aimed at the comprehensive development of Thiruvananthapuram. The mayor informed that the preliminary development plan of the city has already been submitted to the Prime Minister and a more detailed development plan will be submitted after the ward assemblies are completed.

Meantime, R Sreelekha had publicly expressed her dissatisfaction with the party over the mayoral post of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Videos of Sreelekha standing alone on stage when the Prime Minister arrived in the capital city were circulating on social media.
