THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor V V Rajesh responded to the controversy in connection with the office of MLA V K Prasanth functioning in the corporation building. The controversy started when ward member R Sreelekha asked the MLA to vacate his office to run her office. The mayor said the incident should not be politicized to this extent and that Sreelekha made such a demand in the name of her friendship with Prasanth.
'It is not necessary to tell everything to the party. Since such a discussion has arisen, the documents related to the rental of the corporation building will be examined. The 300 square feet room was given for Rs 832. A discount can be given to the MLA's office. We will examine the documents and tell more. A thorough investigation will be conducted to see if the corporation building was given to private individuals for a very low rent,' said the mayor.
Councillor R Sreelekha asked V K Prashanth, MLA, to vacate his office in Sasthamangalam over the phone. Sreelekha's request was to vacate the MLA office adjacent to the ward councillor's office as it was not convenient. However, the MLA responded that this was unacceptable. The MLA responded that the time given to him by the council was until March 31 and he could not vacate until then.
