KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan warned that voting for BJP will lead to the collapse of the state. He said that if the BJP gains an upper hand in Kerala, the secularism and freedom of worship that we have achieved so far will be lost.
The chief minister also pointed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah's words that the BJP will win a majority in the assembly elections should be seen as a warning. He was inaugurating the state conference of the KSEB Officers Association in Ernakulam.
Amit Shah had said at the BJP leadership meeting held in Kochi the other day that the BJP will win a majority in the assembly elections and will win 25 percent of the votes in the elections to local self-government bodies. The chief minister’s statement was in response to this.
‘The victory of the BJP will destroy the secular identity of Kerala and threaten the unity of the state. The people of Kerala enjoy the freedom to dress and worship in the way they like. But if the BJP gains the upper hand, Kerala will be destroyed,' said the chief minister.
The inaugural function was presided over by the association's state president K Indira. Kochi Mayor M Anil Kumar, former minister S Sharma, and electricity employees federation of India general secretary Sudeep Dutta spoke.
