THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The report of the intelligence bureau said the investigating officers showed negligence in the suicide of Immigration Intelligence Bureau official at the international airport. It has also been found that the officers of the Pettah police station deliberately delayed in collecting evidence with the intention of evading investigation.

DCP Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh took over the control of the investigation in the case in view of the intelligence bureau report and the allegations that the police were colluding to save the accused. As part of this, the DCP, who met the media at Pettah station yesterday, informed that the investigation will be expedited.

Even after two weeks of the woman's death, the accused in the case Sukanth of Edappal in Malappuram, has not been arrested. The woman was found dead on the railway track in Chakkai on March 24th. The loco pilot's statement was that the woman, who was walking talking on her mobile phone, jumped in front of the train.

The police in two teams have intensified search to find the accused. A lookout notice has been issued. It is assessed that he is unlikely to go abroad. The police have seized an iPad, mobile phone, etc. from Sukanth's house. Evidence of physical and financial exploitation has been found. Bank records of financial transactions worth more than Rs 3 lakh have been found.

The IB officer's mobile phone was completely damaged, so the evidence on it could not be fully recovered. Efforts are ongoing to do so. The evidence obtained from the accused' office and the girl's parents is crucial. The accused should be arrested and questioned to clarify his role in taking the woman for an abortion. His parents are also absconding along with him.
