KOZHIKODE: Actor and former MP Suresh Gopi was released after grilling him in the case of misbehaving with a female journalist. After questioning him for two hours, the Nadakkavu police released him issuing a notice to appear again. The notice has asked him to appear whenever called by the investigating officer. After coming out of the station, the actor opened the car's sunroof and greeted the activists. Thanking BJP workers for their love, Suresh Gopi also thanked leaders including K Surendran. He also requested the BJP workers not to create any trouble to the police.
He appeared at the Nadakkavu station for interrogation accompanied by hundreds of BJP workers and leaders including women. Even before Suresh Gopi arrived, the BJP workers had reached the station. The activists shouted slogans in favour of the actor. Three lawyers were in the station for Suresh Gopi. BJP state president K Surendran, Shobha Surendran, M T Ramesh, P K Krishnadas were also there.
The case was registered under section 354 A (sexual harassment against a woman), for misbehaving with the female journalist. The complaint is that he misbehaved with the journalist when she asked a question. The statements of the media people and the complainant who were present at the time of the incident had already been recorded. The police also collected the certified copy of the video.
