Suresh Gopi’s advice to candidates contesting polls

THRISSUR: Union Minister Suresh Gopi asked candidates seeking votes not to trouble ordinary voters for more than fifteen days. Suresh Gopi said this while inaugurating the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency level seminar on ‘One Nation, One Election’ organized at the Thrissur Casino Hotel.


One Nation, One Election is one system that the people want. This was in the country during 1961-67. Suresh Gopi said that when opinions were collected from 23,000 people, 70-80 percent of them expressed their opinion.


Former DGP Jacob Thomas said that if the system of One Nation, One Election is transformed, voters will have a greater sense of responsibility and the polling percentage will increase in elections.


Padma Shri winner and former football player I M Vijayan was felicitated at the function. Advocate V P Sreepadmanabhan, Member, Official Languages Department, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, explained the issue of One Nation, One Election. The function presided over by BJP Thrissur City President Justin Jacob, standing council member advocate Ravikumar Uppath and Raghunath C Menon spoke.
