PALAKKAD: The principal of the school in Malampuzha has been suspended in the incident of a teacher sexually abusing a student after making him consume alcohol. The action was taken after she failed to report the incident to the police. The report mentions serious lapse from her side. The AEO will recommend the dismissal of the accused teacher. Steps will also be taken to disqualify the school manager.
The special investigation team found that the school authorities hid the incident for several days despite knowing about the harassment and filed a complaint with Child Line only when the police arrived to investigate. The student confessed to his classmate about the harassment on December 18. The school authorities came to know about it later. The management then took action against the teacher on the 19th. However, it was found that there was a delay in reporting the incident to the police or the concerned authorities.
The incident is within the limits of the Malampuzha police station. On November 29, the accused brought the student to his quarters and abused him. The arrested is Anil of Kollengode, a Sanskrit teacher at the school. Anil had arranged a party for the children who had achieved excellent results in the school sports competition. He invited the boy, who did not attend the party and abused him by giving him alcohol. In addition to a POCSO case, a case has been registered against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act.
