TIRURANGADI: The dead body of a young scooterist, hit by a car on the road, was found in a drain near National Highway 66, Thalappara Service Road. The accident happened around 6:30 pm on Sunday. Muhammed Hashir (22), son of Thalapapra Valiyaparambu native Ahmedkoya Haji, died in the accident and his body was found almost 200m away from the accident site. Despite the search ongoing since Sunday night, the body could be only recovered by Tuesday morning.

A car heading from Kolappuram to Parappanangadi hit the scooter of Mohammed Hashir, who was coming from the opposite direction. Due to the impact of the collision, Hashir fell into a stream with a strong current. Hashir was returning after buying essential goods for home.

The Tirurangadi police, fire force, fishermen from Chaliyam and Kadalundi towns, diving experts from the surrounding areas, and members of voluntary organisations searched, braving the strong currents and thick bushes nearby. On Tuesday morning, the National Disaster Response Force also joined the team after which the body was recovered.
