Thanks for criticizing and correcting, Mohanlal cites moral responsibility for resignation

KOCHI: Actor Mohanlal said the controversies raised in the Malayalam film industry pained him a lot. He responded after tendering his resignation from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Mohanlal spoke to actors including Mammootty. The actor said that he is grateful to everyone and cited moral responsibility for his resignation. All executive committee members have resigned and it has been dissolved. The decision was taken in the online meeting today. The ad hoc committee was given temporary charge.

Mohanlal’s resignation
Following the release of the Hema Committee report and in the context of sexual allegations against some office-bearers of AMMA in the social, visual and print media, the existing executive committee of the association is resigning and cited its moral responsibility as the reason.

A general meeting will be held in two months to elect a new governing body. The existing executive committee will continue as an interim system to ensure that the Kaineettam given on the first day of every month and the help given for treatment continue till the next committee is formed.
