THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The new winter schedule has been announced with a 22 percent increase in flight services through Thiruvananthapuram airport. This is the schedule till March 28. This will be more beneficial for passengers. The weekly air traffic movements will increase from 600 to 732 in the summer schedule.

The number of services to Dammam, Riyadh, Kuwait, Kuala Lumpur and the Maldives has also been increased. The number of international services will increase from 300 to 326. In the domestic sector, the number of services to Kannur, Kochi, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai has been increased from 300 to 406. New services will be started to Navi Mumbai, Mangalore and Trichy.

However, the absence of direct services from Thiruvananthapuram to many foreign sectors in the winter schedule will cause hardship to passengers. There is no direct service from the capital to the Gulf sector, including Jeddah, which has the highest number of passengers. Passengers will have to rely on other airports due to this.

Ticket prices not reduced

There has been no reduction in fares from Thiruvananthapuram during the winter season, even for budget services. Ticket prices from Thiruvananthapuram to foreign countries are higher than those at other airports in the state.
