Thiruvananthapuram city braces for heavy rain and thunderstorms; IMD issues yellow alert

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds are expected at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours.

A yellow alert was issued in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Sunday. A yellow alert has been issued in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday. An orange alert was issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Tuesday.

Fishing along the Kerala coast will be restricted from Sunday due to the chances of heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.
