Three including Soubin Shahir granted anticipatory bail in financial fraud case

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Parava Films partners actor Soubin Shahir, his father Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony in the financial fraud case related to film ‘Manjummel Boys’. The high court has informed that custodial interrogation of the three is not necessary. The high court also directed the police to release them on bail if arrested. The anticipatory bail is in the case registered by the Maradu police.

The case alleged that Rs 7 crore was embezzled by promising a 40 percent profit share. The court has directed them to appear before the investigating officer on July 7and to release them on bail if arrested. The case was registered and the investigation began on a complaint filed by Siraj from Aroor, who alleged that the profit shares and money were not paid after investing Rs 7 crore for the movie. The producers had approached the high court seeking to dismiss the case, but the high court rejected it. The producers have been charged with forgery, breach of trust, and conspiracy.

Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram, is an industry hit that has collected more than Rs 235 crore globally. Disney Hotstar has acquired the OTT rights of the film. The plot of the film is about a group of youngsters Krom Kochi who come to Kodaikanal for a pleasure trip and the events they face there.

The story takes place in the backdrop of Guna Cave. Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy, Lal Junior, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Deepak Parambol, Khalid Rahman, Arun Kurien, and Vishnu Raghu are playing the lead roles in the film.
