ALAPPUZHA: Train traffic on the Alappuzha-Ernakulam route was disrupted after a tree fell on the railway track near Aroor Keltron amidst heavy rainfall on Thursday. It is learnt that efforts are underway to cut down the tree. All trains plying this route were stopped at various stations.
Train traffic on this route was disrupted at around 5 pm today. The Alappuzha-Chennai Express was stopped at Ezhupunna station while the Alappuzha-Kannur Express was stopped at Thuravoor station. All trains via Alappuzha have also been stopped at Ernakulam South station. Train traffic will be restored only after the tree is completely removed from the track.
It is expected that clearing the tree debris from the track will anyhow take an hour. The trains running through this route will thus be delayed for the mentioned time.
