Two girls found hanging in Kollam, suicide suspected

KOLLAM: Two sports students of Sports Authority of India (SAI) were found dead in their hostel rooms. The dead are Sandra (18) of Kozhikode and Vaishnavi (16) from Thiruvananthapuram. One is a Class 10 student and the other is a Plus Two student. The students were found hanging in SAI's hostel adjacent to the stadium. Initial reports say that it is a case of suicide.

When the warden and other students came to call them to go for practice at 5 am this morning, they did not open the room. When the door was then forced open, the students were found hanging from two fans. No further information has been obtained in connection with the incident. No suicide notes were recovered from the room. The city police commissioner has arrived and is collecting information. Vaishnavi is a kabaddi player. She had won the competition held in Kalluvathukkal the other day. Sandra is an athlete.
