Upto one crore for dependants; KB Ganesh Kumar announces new scheme for KSRTC employees

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister KB Ganesh Kumar has announced an insurance scheme for KSRTC employees. 22,095 permanent employees of KSRTC will also be beneficiaries of the scheme. The scheme is being implemented jointly by SBI and KSRTC. In case of death in an accident, the family will get one crore rupees as compensation. One crore rupees will be given in case of complete disability in an accident, and in case of partial disability, Rs 80 lakh will be given.

The insurance scheme is based on an agreement between KSRTC and SBI. The scheme will come into effect from June 4. By paying an annual premium of Rs 1,995, insurance of up to Rs 15 lakh will be provided for two years. The spouse and two children of the employee will also get coverage. The employee can decide whether to be a part of this policy, the minister said in a press conference.
