Vacation turns tragic as Two Yemeni students go missing in Puthuvype Beach

KOCHI: Two Yemeni nationals, who were in Kerala for vacation, went missing in Puthuvype beach on Monday. Jubran and Abdul Salam, two natives of Yemen, were swept off in the waves. The team of nine Yemeni nationals were on a visit to Kerala for vacation.

All are students of a college in Coimbatore. On Monday, the team went to bathe in Njarakkal beach. They reached the spot at 12 pm and were about to move ahead when a few fishermen warned them of the turbulent sea. It is assumed that the students couldn’t comprehend the language and thus went ahead with their plans.

By 12:30 pm, the tragedy had happened as two disappeared in the sea. The Coast Guard, Navy and Fire Force are now in action. This part of the beach is considered dangerous and has seen many tragedies in the past.
