THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite achieving a prestigious victory, the UDF will face a bit of difficulty in sharing ministerial posts. VD Satheesan is the frontrunner for the post of Chief Minister. Senior leaders and many constituent parties think that if Satheesan gets neglected despite doing a yeoman’s service, it will take away the sheen of the victory.
The current one is a 21-member cabinet. The League, the second largest party, will have to be given five ministerial posts. The Kerala Congress (J), which performed well, will demand two ministerial posts. Mons Joseph and Apu John Joseph will also be considered.
One Ministry for RSP, Kerala Congress (Jacob) faction and CMP. K.K. Rema and Mani C. Kappan may be given representation under the term system. V.D. Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and Sunny Joseph will get major portfolios.
K. Muraleedharan, N. Shakthan and M. Vincent may be considered from the Thiruvananthapuram district for various reasons. P.C. Vishnunath will become a minister from Kollam. When considering women and Ezhava representation, Bindu Krishna is also a possibility. Although Shanimol Usman is senior in Alappuzha, M. Liju is more likely to get the lot. Things will go Shanimol’s way if Muslim representation is considered.
Considering G. Sudhakaran for a post will be another major issue that needs to be sorted out.
Mathew Kuzhalnadan, Roji M John and V.P. Sajeendran may be considered from Ernakulam. A.P. Anilkumar is a certain selection from Malappuram. Sumesh Achuthan is a possibility from Palakkad district. Youth Congress National Secretary K. M. Abhijith, DCC President Praveen Kumar and Jayant will be considered from the Kozhikode district. T. Siddique cannot be ruled out of Wayanad either.
