THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 'I had planned to kill my mother's relatives, a woman and her daughter living in Thattathumala, and my uncle in Venjaramoodu. But after I killed my younger brother by hitting him on the head, I lost my mental strength. I became exhausted. Otherwise, I would have killed them too'. Shocking revelation by Afaan, accused in the Venjaramoodu massacre case. The accused told this to a psychiatrist who examined his mental state at the Medical College Hospital. The psychiatrist passed the information to the police.
The woman and her daughter had given money at interest and threatened. They took back about Rs. 10 lakh after giving Rs. 5 lakh. They kept demanding money. Afaan revealed that this is the reason for his enmity with them. He was angry with his uncle because he did not give money when Afaan asked for it. Afaan revealed that his uncle has a small child and that this was the reason for his withdrawal.
Afaan planned to reach Thattathumala and kill them as well after killing his grandmother Salma Beevi, girlfriend Farzana, younger brother Afsan, mother Shemi, paternal uncle Latif and his wife Shahida.
'Afaan spoke badly to Latif'
The police are confirming that the reason for the massacre was huge debt. Afaan and his mother borrowed Rs 65 lakh from 14 people. The people who loaned the money constantly harassed the family when the money was not returned. The mother Shemi had run a chit fund, but the money was gone. Shemi ran the chit fund to solve the financial crisis. Shahida, the wife of the deceased Latif, got the chitty. However, the money could not be given. There was a dispute between Latif and Afaan over this. The police also confirmed that Latif had told his close relatives that Afaan had spoken badly to him.
