PALAKKAD: The investigation into the incident in which a migrant worker was beaten to death by a mob at Attappallam in Walayar has been handed over to the Crime Branch. A district Crime Branch team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) will investigate the case. Five people have been arrested so far in connection with the murder of Ram Manohar Vayyar (31), a native of Chhattisgarh. Those arrested are Anu, Prasad, Murali, Ananthan, and Vibin, all natives of Attappallam.

The shocking murder took place on Wednesday evening. Ram Manohar was allegedly accused of theft and was stopped and beaten by a mob. After being assaulted, he vomited blood and collapsed. Though he was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved. The Walayar police have taken 15 people from Attappallam and Mathalikad areas into custody in connection with the case. More arrests are likely in the coming days.
