THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A controversy had recently erupted regarding the cost of the model house constructed at the Mundakkai township for those who lost their homes in the Wayanad landslide disaster. Minister K. Rajan has now released the cost details. According to a note shared by the minister on his Facebook page, the cost of a house, including GST, is Rs 26,95,999. He also stated that this amount includes maintenance costs for 3-5 years.

Project features
Project type: Government-funded EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project envisioned as a complete township.
Residential units: 410 houses.
Social amenities: Memorial, Anganwadi, community & rehabilitation centre, open-air theatre, health centre and laboratory, material collection centre, market, football ground, and three public toilets.
Water resource management: Reservoir/check dam, underground storage (7.5 lakh litres), overhead water tank (2.5 lakh litres), 10 sewage treatment plants (STPs), and 9 retention ponds.
Roads: Total of 11.42 km of roads (1.1 km main road, 2.77 km sub-roads, 7.55 km internal roads).
