THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread rain is likely to lash the state today. Central and North Kerala will receive more rain. Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram.
The Meteorological Centre has warned that isolated heavy rain will continue for the next three days. Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are on yellow alert tomorrow and Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram districts the day after tomorrow. hilly areas have been advised to be on alert similar to orange alert.
The authorities have instructed fishermen not to go into the sea. The Central Meteorological Department has advised not to go fishing on the Kerala coast till August 30. There is a possibility for strong winds to blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and bad weather.
