KOZHIKODE: Number TG 434222, the lottery ticket sold from a shop in Sulthan Bathery has won the Onam bumper prize of Rs 25 crores. The ticket was sold by NGR Lotteries agent Nagaraj while the winner has not been identified yet.
Nagaraj, a native of Mysore, and his brother Manjunath have been in the lottery business for the last 15 years. The brothers set up the shop just five years ago. Just two months ago, luck first knocked on their doors, as the ticket sold through the shop won the win-win lottery of 75 lakhs.
Nagaraj, responding to the media, was elated, saying it felt like walking towards heaven and returning. Nagaraj took the ticket from Jinesh, an agent in Panamaram. Sultan Bathery is known for its mass influx of people from Bengaluru and Mysuru, who mostly come for work. These populaces have a craze for lottery tickets and usually buy copious numbers, splashing good money.
The draw was held today at 2 pm at Gorky Bhavan in the presence of Finance Minister KN Balagopal. The first draw was conducted by the Finance Minister and the first draw for the second prize was conducted by VK Prashant MLA.
The Finance Minister also released the sales of Pooja Bumper lottery ticket, which will have Rs 12 crore as the first prize.
