Writer and social activist Devaki Nilayangode passes away

Thrissur: Writer and social activist Devaki Nilayangode passed away at the age of 95. She passed away at her residence in Tirur at around noon today. Devaki Nilayangode, who advocated for the advancement of Brahmin women, strongly raised her voice against the immorality of society. Vaathilpurappad, Kaattilum Naattilum, Kaalapakarchakal, Nashtabhodangalillaathe Oru Antharjanathinte Aathmakadha are her notable literary works.

Most of Devaki Nilayangode's writings are glimpses of the lives of Namboothiri Brahmin women. Her autobiography Nashtabhodangalillaathe Oru Antharjanathinte Aathmakadha is her most prominent book.

She was born in 1928 in Mukkuthala Pakaravoor Mana near Ponnani in Malappuram district. Her brother was the eminent educationist and writer Chitran Namboothiripad, who passed away recently.
