Youth arrested for pelting stone at Vande Bharat over love failure

KOCHI: The railway police have arrested a 19-year-old boy for pelting a stone at the Vande Bharat Express. Sujith Suresh of Parakadavu in Angamaly has been arrested. An investigation based on CCTV footage from the train helped in arresting the accused. The incident happened on March 7 at around 7.15 am near the Akaparambu railway gate near Nedumbassery Airport.


The train, which was going from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore, was pelted with stones three times. The glass of the train was broken in the attack. Sujith told police that he threw stones following a love failure. A non-bailable offence has been charged against the accused under Section 153 of the Railway Act.


A team led by Aluva Inspector A P Venu, under the supervision of RPF Divisional Security Commissioner Muhammad Haneef, arrested the accused. Sub-inspectors K S Manikandan and V A George were also part of the investigation team. The police took the accused to the spot and collected evidence.
