MALAPPURAM: A youth who walked around with a snake in the pocket of his pants was bitten multiple times. The adventurous performance of the migrant was seen at Othayi town in Malappuram the other day. It is reported that the health condition of the youth undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College is satisfactory.
The youth wearing pants and a T-shirt came to the town to have tea last evening. He would occasionally put his hand in his pants pocket and quickly pull it out and shake it off. No one noticed this in the beginning. It was only after a while that some of the locals noticed that he had a snake in his pocket. When they questioned him, he admitted it. In the meantime, he was bitten a couple of times and he showed the bite marks. When the people there asked him to take the snake out of his pocket, he complied. At this time, the snake was in a life-threatening condition. He later abandoned the snake as per the demand of the locals. It died after a while. After putting the snake in an envelope, the locals themselves took the youth to a nearby hospital. He was referred to Manjeri Medical College from here.
The youth, who is under observation there, is reported to have no health issues and was bitten by a non-venomous snake. He will be discharged today. Locals suspect that the youth may have caught the snake and put it in his pocket after taking drugs.
