Youth dies after car hits pillar of elevated highway in Kazhakoottam, racing suspected

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An accident that happened on the national highway in Kazhakoottam claimed the life of a youth. The dead is Shibin (28) of Balaramapuram. Two including a woman sustained injuries in the accident. The accident happened at midnight.

The accident occurred when the car hit a pillar on the elevated highway after losing control. The front portion of the car has been completely damaged in the impact. Police said Shibin was on the driver’s seat. Apart from Shibin, Rajaneesh, Kiran, Akhila and Sreelakshmi, natives of Balaramapuram, were in the vehicle. Two of them suffered serious injuries.

The injured are under treatment at the medical college hospital. The vehicle was speeding. It is suspected that the accident occurred during car racing. The Kazhakoottam police have started an investigation into the incident. Reports said the people in the car were drunk.
