Youth ends life on day of son’s choroonu function over financial liability

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a ghastly incident, a youth committed suicide by hanging on the day of his son’s choroonu function, in Vithura. He has been identified as Amal Krishnan of Perayathupara. Initial reports said that he ended his life due to financial liabilities. The incident happened Friday morning at 8.30 am. His body was found in the old building near the turf run along with his friends. A suicide note was recovered from near the body.

He took the drastic step on the day of his son’s choroonu function. As part of the function, his family had gone to the guru mandir nearby. A search conducted found his body. The turf is run by him and six of his friends. It is believed that he had a liability of lakhs. The Vithura police have registered a case and an investigation has started.
