THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the school Praveshanotsavam 2025-26 by lighting the traditional lamp. Schools in the state opened today after the two-month long vacation. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated Praveshanotsavam at Kalavoor Government Highter Secondary School in Alappuzha Monday morning. Along with the chief minister, Ministers V Sivankutty, Saji Cherian, P Prasad also attended the function. About 40 lakh students reached various schools today. The first performance in Kalavoor was a dance performance of the inaugural song written by a 10th-class student Bhadra. The chief minister also inaugurated the state-level program to provide study materials to children.
The chief minister said the heavy rains in the past few days had caused concern for Praveshanotsavam. 'Textbooks have arrived even before the school opens. Everyone should develop love and care for each other. The main goal of education is knowledge. Achieve it and grow with confidence. That is what our children are stepping towards. Everyone should have love for their fellow beings. Everything should be approached with critical mind. Comprehensive changes have been made in the new academic year. If children want to change, their thinking skills should be developed in that way. That is what the government is aiming for through general education. Democratic consciousness should be developed in children,' the chief minister added.
The new academic year begins with comprehensive changes, including value-based learning and new class timings in high schools. This time, it is also special that robotics is being studied in class 10 for the first time in India. More than 2.5 lakh students are expected to enter class 1 this time. There will be no textbook study in the first two weeks. Socially relevant subjects such as environmental cleanliness, anti-drug activities, and good behavior will be taught.
