MALAPPURAM: Shafi Parambil MP said that he fully cooperated with the vehicle inspection. The trolley bag contained clothes and books. The police searched the vehicle in which Shafi Parambil and Rahul Mamkootathil were travelling at around 10 pm last night at Vadapuram in Nilambur.
'When we were coming after having dinner, a cop showed his hands to stop. The car stopped and asked him the reason. He asked us to get out. They have the right to search the vehicle. So, we cooperated with them.
I opened the dicky when he asked us to open it. He then asked us to take the bag out. I took all the bags out from the vehicle and then asked the police to search. They said no problem and asked us to go. I said you should search and then tell us if you have got anything from the vehicle.
They should see what's inside the box. If it's a search, shouldn't the bag be opened and searched? We then insisted them to search the bag. They were not recording the camera while searching. I told them to record it. I asked them whether they have got anything from it and they said no.
We cooperated with the search. I asked them a question, cars of many political parties' pass this way, did you check any of their cars? They said that they are checking all of them. We did not see any cars being searched. They may search again,’ said Shafi Parambil.
UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukath said that the search was partial. The bags of LDF leaders are not being searched. He clarified that one cannot win in Nilambur by checking the bags and threatening them.
