‘Let me say honestly'; Suresh Gopi's response on which portfolio he is interested in

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Designated MP Suresh Gopi will be going to Thrissur today after his stupendous win in the Lok Sabha polls. In an interview given to a channel, he said that he will be offering coconuts to Manikandanal Temple at 3.30 pm and the party’s decision is then to start the road show from there.

Suresh Gopi said that neither UDF candidate K Muraleedharan nor LDF candidate Sunil Kumar were cheated by their party activists. He added that he got unbiased votes in Thrissur and the people there did not hesitate to cast their votes to me.

Suresh Gopi also responded to the anchor’s question on which department he wants if he gets a ministerial berth. 'Let me say honestly, I should be able to influence in at least ten portfolios. If I am placed as an external particle, not in the cabinet or in the Minister of State, I have to do the work of at least ten departments in Kerala with a very strong influence.

In the context of me understanding the problems of Kerala, ten departments are required. That is not possible. I will then be able to have the control of those ten ministers, it may be correct in politics to say that, but not right in democracy, my teachers told me that later and so, I am correcting it.

If given the status of being an external particle, that will be the biggest blessing, said Suresh Gopi.

NDA candidate Suresh Gopi won after given a new dimension to Kerala political equations in the Lok Sabha elections. He won with a majority of more than 75000 votes. Suresh Gopi got 4,12,338 votes. He got a majority of 74,686 votes over the opposing candidate V S Sunil Kumar. Sunil Kumar got 3,37,652 votes and Muraleedharan got 3,28,124 votes. If NDA comes to power, Suresh Gopi may become a union minister.
