KOTTAYAM: There are widespread protests among the CPM members against Health Minister Veena George in the incident leading to the death of the woman in the building collapse in Kottayam Medical College Hospital. The party's local and area committee members have come with a Facebook post against Veena.

'She is not even eligible to become an MLA. Criticised her ministerial berth. Not saying much, don’t make me say much, said Elanthoor local committee member Johnson P J in his Facebook post. Johnson is also the former district president of SFI. CPM's Eraviperoor area committee member mocked minister's hospital treatment due to physical discomfort.

'When I was in school, I used to stay at home on the day of exam, lying about stomach pain. Escaped. The only difference here is from questions,' mocked former Pathanamthitta CWC chairman N Rajeev.

Meantime, it is also reported that the party is planning to take action against them for their posts. The party district committee has clarified to examine the matter. Veena George is not in good terms with party members in her constituency Aranmula. Party members had expressed their hostility publicly several times in the past. The main allegation against her is that even party members are not able to convey her about the general affairs of the constituency.

Some party workers said complaints against her have come before the top leaders of the district. The main complaint against her is that if called her, some from her office would pick up the phone and only if they are convinced, would hand over the phone to her. There was no significant intervention from the side of the top leaders. They also alleged that interference of some of the minister's relatives is also distancing the party from the common people.
