THRISSUR: The hometown will bid adieu to actor and former MP Innocent, who passed away on Sunday. The funeral will be held at 10 am at St Thomas Cathedral, Irinjalakuda and will be laid to rest with full state honours. The body of the actor will be taken from his house ‘Parppidam’ to the church at 9.30 am.
Hundreds of people came to pay their last respects to the departed actor. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, opposition leader V D Satheesan, actors Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi among others from the political and film fields came to pay their last respects.
The body was kept for public homage at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Ernakulam from 8 am to 11.30 am yesterday. The office-bearers of 'AMMA' including Edavela Babu, Ranji Panicker and Siddique led the public homage. The body was taken to his native Irinjalakuda in a decorated AC low-floor bus of KSRTC at 11.30 am.
The body was kept at Irinjalakuda Town Hall from 2.30 pm onwards. The body was later taken to his residence ‘Parppidam’. Innocent died at a private hospital in Kochi around 10:30 pm on Sunday. He was being treated for cancer and had problems with his lungs, heart and kidneys.
