THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is indicated that the CPM will also conduct an investigation into the allegations raised by MLA PV Anvar against the Chief Minister's office and the Home Department. The party's intervention comes amid allegations that the probe by the government, which is protecting accused ADGP MR Ajith Kumar and Chief Minister's Political Secretary P Sasi, will be a farce.

Meanwhile, PV Anvar, who was thought to have backed down before the Chief Minister, came out yesterday with the spirit of a warrior. On Wednesday, Anvar handed over a copy of the allegations he had written to the Chief Minister to CPM state secretary MV Govindan. He also clarified the matter to Govindan. MV Govindan will present the issue at the State Secretariat meeting on Friday.

Later, Anvar told the media that the government will have to face the consequences if it is trying to protect the accused. Anvar's demeanour on Tuesday, after meeting the Chief Minister, suggested defeat. However, he rebounded on Wednesday with a fierce determination, ready to take on the fight.

LDF Convener TP Ramakrishnan said that all allegations made by Anvar will be investigated. He also mentioned that the guilty will be punished, regardless of who they are.

The move is seen as a growing rebellion within the party against the dominance of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the authoritarianism of P. Sasi, especially at a time when conferences from the branch level to the state level are about to vigorously discuss and confront these issues.

After his meeting with the CM, Anvar had said in a tone of withdrawal that his mission as a comrade was over and now everything was for the party and government to decide. However, after his meeting with MV Govindan on Wednesday, he has only started his revolution.

“I just revealed things that lakhs of comrades wanted to say. It is the sentiment of those who want the government to exist. CM’s trusted aides have failed their duty and are designing a plan to bring down the government. I will surrender only before the party and god and my fight is against this lobby. The change will not happen soon," he said.

Strong move against P Sasi
Senior leaders, including MV Govindan, are unhappy with the CM's move to settle the matter without the knowledge of the party. Meanwhile, P Sasi, in a telephone interview with an English weekly, said he has been targeted since becoming the state secretary of SFI in 1980. He denied any involvement in the allegations and expressed no fear of the investigation. With this move, P Sasi is eyeing a spot in the state secretariat and plans to contest the 2026 assembly elections from Thalassery. However, the opposing faction within the party is trying to thwart his plans.
