ALAPPUZHA: It is reported that the CPM Alappuzha district committee has decided not to take a stand which would cause a bad name to the SNDP Yogam, over the party's defeat in the parliamentary elections. The issue was discussed in the district committee meeting held the other day. The discussion was based on the state committee report.

CPM will be at the forefront of action in line with SNDP Yogam's stance of protecting the oppressed backwards and Dalit community. RSS infiltration and communalism in branches under the guise of BDJS will be curbed. Such branches and SNDP temple governing bodies will be freed from the RSS. Activists will be instructed to take more active involvement and action at the branch and union level and to be active in celebrations including Chathayam Day.

No worry over Vellapally's leadership

The party is not worried about Vellapally Natesan leading Yogam. The preservation of Yogam as a renaissance movement is everyone's responsibility. CPM state secretary had also come forward against the Yogam leadership in the wake of the election defeat. The discussion in the district committee was that there is no need to worry about the voting pattern in the Lok Sabha elections. No one of the party should try to intrude into branch meetings. RSS intrusion, including in branch meetings, should be viewed with caution. At least the position of the Yogam leadership is such that there is no chance for RSS infiltration, but the move of the RSS should be anticipated. For that, there should be good relationships and cooperation with branch meetings.

It is the responsibility of the party to protect the minorities in the communal movements of the majority. It was instructed to treat the people with humility and keep away the movements that support minority communalism. Central committee members TM Thomas Isaac, CS Sujatha, state secretariat member Saji Cherian, district secretary R Nasser, state committee member CB Chandrababu and others were present.
