KANNUR: AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that the CPM is prioritising the interests of capitalists and asserted that Pinarayi Vijayan, whom he accused of trying to destroy communism, must be defeated. Venugopal made these remarks while sharing a stage with rebel candidates T.K. Govindan and V. Kunhikrishnan, both of whom recently left the CPM. In a notable comment, Venugopal also claimed that Rahul Gandhi possesses a "communist mind."

Venugopal was speaking at a UDF event held in Kannur city, attended by all UDF candidates from the district. Former CPM district secretariat member T.K. Govindan is contesting from Taliparamba with UDF support, while former district committee member V. Kunhikrishnan is contesting from Payyannur. During the address, Venugopal emphasised that Pinarayi Vijayan cannot remain silent and must answer Rahul Gandhi’s question regarding the alleged theft of "Ayyappa’s gold."

"It is Pinarayi Vijayan who is protecting the gold robbers. While PSC first-rank holders remain unemployed, jobs are being reserved for the relatives of party comrades. The CPM is protecting the interests of the capitalists," Venugopal accused.

He concluded by stating that T.K. Govindan and V. Kunhikrishnan represent the "real communists."
