ALAPPUZHA: The state government was sharply criticized in the CPI state conference. The criticism is against the government's liquor and police policies. The report presented at the CPI state conference said the government is more interested in foreign liquor than toddy.

There was also a flaw in the government's priority policy. The government is ignoring the basic problems of the Left Front's cadres. If this is not resolved, there will be a serious setback. The CPI working report mentioned that BJP’s gains in the state in the Lok Sabha elections should not be underestimated. The CPI has expressed their disagreement with the government over the messing up of Pooran and the way of handling M R Ajith Kumar’s issue. The report is being presented by CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam.

Meantime, the party leadership and workers in the district are eager to make the state conference being held in Alappuzha after 43 years, a grand success. The conference is of great importance at a time when many eventful issues are being discussed in the administrative and political arenas. In the context of strong criticism of the government, the party, and ministers at the district conferences, the discussions at the state conference are also likely to be stormy.
