KOTTAYAM: Senior Congress leader Prof PJ Kurien met General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair after the NSS took a pro-government stand regarding the global Ayyappa Sangamam. It is reported that Kurien had come to Perunna with the Congress's mission to persuade Sukumaran Nair.
However, it is reported that Sukumaran Nair reiterated that the NSS's stand in support of the Ayyappa Sangam has not changed. The visit was at 3:30 pm on Sunday. Kurien has been in close contact with Sukumaran Nair for years. Kodikunnil Suresh had earlier visited Sukumaran Nair.
Kurien said that when he spoke to Sukumaran Nair, he understood that the NSS had not taken a political stand. "NSS is an organization that has always supported the Congress. It is so close to the Congress. Sukumaran Nair only said that it was good when the LDF government corrected its mistake on the Sabarimala issue," Kurien clarified.
