KOZHIKODE: In a press conference held in Kozhikode, CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan asserted that the LDF manifesto is a commitment to action rather than a list of empty promises. He emphasised that unlike the Congress and the BJP, who often treat manifestos as mere propaganda tools, the LDF government remains the only administration in India to provide a transparent progress report to the people. He maintained that the LDF’s primary guarantee is the total implementation of its stated goals.
Govindan highlighted a significant shift in Kerala's political landscape, noting that even surveys conducted for the UDF are showing a trend in favour of the Left. He identified the complete eradication of poverty as the manifesto’s most vital objective, building on the state's success in eliminating extreme poverty.
Addressing the issue of unemployment, the Secretary detailed plans to provide jobs to every student and ensure employment for more than 50% of unemployed women. Furthermore, he pledged to increase the welfare pension to ₹3,000, pointedly comparing this to the ₹600 pension provided under the previous Oommen Chandy government. He concluded that these initiatives represent a major breakthrough for the future of Kerala.
