Rajya Sabha seats for CPI and Kerala Congress M; CPM decides to give seats to constituent parties

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI(M) has decided to give two LDF seats of the three Rajya Sabha seats allocated to the state to the constituent parties. The seats will be given to CPI and Kerala Congress. LDF convener EP Jayarajan informed that the decision was unanimous. PP Suneer will be CPI's Rajya Sabha candidate. It is indicated that Jose K. Mani will be the candidate of Kerala Congress M.

LDF had to complete the seat division quickly as the last date for submission of nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha seat is the 13th of this month. EP Jayarajan said in a press conference that they did not face any big problems as the party was working with good unity and cohesion. The LDF convenor stated that although the CPM can win one seat alone, emphasizing the importance of front politics it has decided to give the seat to the constituent parties after discussing with all the parties in the LDF.

Meanwhile, Muslim League's Haris Beeran is UDF's Rajya Sabha candidate. Muslim League leaders informed in a press conference that the party took the decision unanimously. PK Kunhalikutty informed that Haris Beeran will submit nomination papers today evening itself. Harris Biran is a Supreme Court lawyer and KMCC Delhi Unit President.
