PALAKKAD: LDF candidate Dr P Sarin has accused the UDF of leveraging communalism as a strategy to secure their victory in the Palakkad constituency. Speaking to a media outlet about the recently declared election results, Sarin alleged that the UDF had developed a "dangerous winning formula" by aligning with both the BJP and SDPI to sway voters.
“Congress has crafted a perilous political strategy by simultaneously leaning on the BJP and SDPI, a tactic that seems to have resonated with voters. SDPI is gaining strength by allying with the BJP, while both the UDF and BJP have worked to undermine the Left. The Congress won by using communalism as a crutch, with SDPI acting as an agent to inject religious narratives into the campaign,” Sarin stated.
“The 10,000 votes that BJP’s E Sreedharan secured last time have significantly decreased. This decline is twofold—dissatisfied BJP supporters backed Congress and C Krishnakumar’s candidacy failed to inspire confidence within his own party.”
Sarin alleged that BJP’s candidate, Krishnakumar, contested not to win but to maintain his municipal presence. “Krishnakumar’s candidacy appears to have been a strategic maneuver rather than a genuine attempt to win. While this might not affect him personally, it caused internal dissent within the BJP, leading many supporters to shift their allegiance to Congress,” he added. “I will continue to live by the people and work for their problems. Palakkad remains steadfast in its resolve,” he said.
