'Will go into political exile if UDF loses 2026', says Opposition leader V D Satheesan

KOCHI: Opposition leader V D Satheesan hinted at going into political exile in case UDF fail to grab power in 2026 in Kerala’s crucial elections. While responding to the media in Angamaly, Satheesan said he would work hard in all possible ways to ensure a landslide victory for UDF in the upcoming assembly polls.

VD SATHEESAN:

"SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan asked me whether I would go into political exile if the UDF comes second in the assembly elections. There should be no doubt, as I will indeed go into political exile. Even if the UDF wins more than 100 seats, Vellappally should not resign. He should continue for life as the Yogam general secretary.

I am not going to compete or argue with Vellappally. He said that if the UDF gets 98 seats, he will resign. A seasoned community leader like him, who closely monitors politics, has agreed that UDF will somehow cross more than 90 seats. That itself is positive and shows the current trend of Kerala.

I have not responded harshly to Vellappally’s criticism. I am someone who embodies and propagates the Sree Narayana ethos. If anyone tries to spread hatred in the country, the UDF will stop it. It is the decision of team UDF to oppose minority and majority communalism.

UDF will never ask for votes citing religion. We promise to rebuild Kerala and will win the votes of the masses for our promise. We will oppose communal hatred in Kerala. I have respect for the chair I am sitting on. I will show the propriety of not saying anything bad to a person who is close to 90 years old ( Vellappally).
