THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 55th state film awards were announced Monday evening. The awards for best child (male and female) artists were avoided this time. This was following the jury's assessment that the film submitted for the award was below standard. Following this, the jury decided not to give awards in the categories for best child actors. There is a big protest against the jury's assessment now. Srikanth E G, the director of the children's film 'School Chale Hum', has stepped forward criticizing jury chairman Prakash Raj on the issue.

Srikanth said that at least five films, including 'School Chale Hum', were submitted for the award this year. By not giving even a consolation prize to any of them, and only presenting awards like this, you are killing the last person who wants to do children's films, Srikanth wrote on Facebook. He also asked, ‘Sir, haven’t you undermined the self-esteem of filmmakers who had pinned their hopes on a small award?
