THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ratheena PT, the former wife of businessman Mohammed Shershad, filed a complaint in connection with the CPM letter controversy. Ratheena, a film director, alleged the controversy as a result of a family feud.
Ratheena dismissed allegations that she had known personally CPM state secretary M V Govindan and his son Shyamjith. She said that the former minister Thomas Issac helped her and intervened when her house was threatened with foreclosure. Ratheena alleged that Shershad failed to pay the money despite the minister’s intervention.
RATHEENA:
“The ongoing drama is to taint my reputation in public. I decided to split with my husband after getting fed up with his torture. I can even give evidence of complaints I formerly filed with the police against Shershad and the court decisions.
Shershad was involved in financial fraud cases previously, too. He duped many people of their money in Chennai, Dubai, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kochi on a large scale. He will continue to cheat more people by telling false stories.
Are we not seeing women committing suicide over failed marriages? We might find it moronic on their part to end life rather than initiate divorce. However, it is not the case. Consider my story. I divorced and am still being haunted and tortured mentally by my former partner. It is taking a heavy toll on me.
The police should be ready to ensure the protection ordered by the court for me and my children. Don’t even dream of me committing suicide dejected over these inane claims. I will be here in some way or other.”
