Sky beam of Thuravoor elevated highway collapses; major tragedy averted

ALAPPUZHA: There was an accident at the Aroor-Thuravoor elevated highway. The sky beam used for the erection of the girder collapsed. The accident occurred around 6 am this morning when the sky beam was being removed using a crane. No causalities have been reported. However, the lorry parked under the pillar to transport the steel girders has been damaged.

A major tragedy was averted as no vehicles were passing this way at the time of the accident. However, the locals alleged that the sky beam was tried to be lowered without imposing traffic restrictions. They added that there would have been a disaster if vehicles had been passing this time.
