THRISSUR: Traffic congestion is severe on the Muringoor and Chalakudy areas in the national highway. All vehicles are being diverted. More police personnel have been deployed in Amballur and Chalakudy to control the vehicles. The traffic jam that occurred on Friday night lasted for about 18 hours.
Except for large vehicles, vehicles are being diverted through small roads. Before entering the Muringoor bridge, small vehicles are being diverted to the signal in front of the Airport Junction via Kadukutty Athani. Large vehicles are being diverted through the Muringoor bridge. Police personnel have also been deployed before the Chalakudy Potta bridge. The police are advising passengers to go to Ernakulam via Ashtamichira-Mala.
Underpass construction is underway in Muringoor and Chirangara. Vehicles are having difficulty passing through the roads that were prepared for the passage of vehicles during the construction of underpasses because all the roads that were prepared for the passage of vehicles are in a bad condition. In addition to NH 544, there is severe traffic congestion on NH 66. It takes more than an hour to cover one kilometer on the Kottappuram-Moothakunnam section, which is the Thrissur-Ernakulam district border.
