THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Writer Sarah Joseph demanded that rapper Vedan, aka Hirandas Murali, apologise to the survivor who accused him of sexual assault.

Sarah Joseph said that the voice of the rape survivors should be considered in the same vein as the cries of murdered girls coming from beneath the earth.

Sara Joseph:

“The survivor has recently demanded that Vedan confess to the crime and apologise for his misdeeds. Each sexual assault allegation is akin to the screams of many murdered girls rising from beneath the ground. There are also minor children in the list. We should not keep a blind eye on such matters. They deserve justice.

You must recognise the sexual crimes committed against your sisters, friends, and mothers.

It is important to know that a Dalit girl experiences caste discrimination, gender discrimination, colour discrimination, and class discrimination from society, as well as discrimination from male power within her community.

You must sing about them.

You must carry their cries into your song. Let your lines create a storm.

To do that, it is vital not to have any pangs of guilt left in your mind. Admit your wrongdoing to the person mentioned above and apologise.

You must not stumble in the path you have chosen.”
