MAVELIKKARA: The body of a young woman who went missing last Sunday has been found in the Pamba river. The deceased has been identified as Dhanya Krishna (29), a native of Chettikulangara. Her body was recovered in a decomposed state from the Pulikeezhu area of the river on Friday.

Dhanya was working as a lab technician at a private hospital in Thiruvalla. She had left home on April 26 evening to go to work. Her husband dropped her off at a private bus around 6:30 pm. However, she did not reach the hospital even by 11:30 pm, when her duty was scheduled to begin. Her phone was switched off. Following this, her husband Ranju R. Pillai filed a missing persons complaint with the Mavelikkara police.

Based on initial information from bus staff that she had got off at Thiruvalla, police began their search, but she could not be traced. Later, the investigation team found that this information was incorrect and continued the probe using her mobile phone data and CCTV footage. Dhanya Krishna and Ranju R. Pillai have been married for 10 years and have a six-year-old daughter. Police said the cause of death is not yet clear and added that family issues could be a possible factor.
