Man dies of suspected food poisoning, four under treatment with similar symptoms

THRISSUR: A 57-year-old man identified as Saseendran (57) of Ammanath House in Thrissur died of suspected food poisoning. His wife Geetha, mother Ambuja and two coconut climbers are undergoing treatment with similar symptoms. The condition of one of them is serious.

They had idli for breakfast and developed uneasiness soon after that. Saseendran, who lives near the Thrissur government medical college, went to the ATM adjacent to the medical college. Saseendran vomited blood and collapsed and people immediately rushed him to the medical college hospital but did not respond to treatment and died immediately.

All the members had idli for breakfast. Investigation is on whether any poison has entered their bodies. His son, who did not eat idli is fine.

His relatives first said that a post mortem was not needed. However, they grew suspicious when the other four showed the same symptoms. His son is under police scanner.
