Lesbian couple Nazrin and Noora tie knot; pics viral on social media

Lesbian couple Adhila Nazrin (22) of Aluva and Fathima Noora (23) of Thamarasseri in Kozhikode tied the knot. The couple themselves shared the pictures via Facebook. They posted the pictures of exchanging rings and of cake cutting.

The two got acquainted while studying for plus one in Saudi Arabia. They used to share everything. Noora was the first to realize her sexual orientation. Adhila had once told her friend that if we were male and female, we could have married from the same community. During the plus two time, both of them realized that this is not just attraction but a deep love.

In the meanwhile, the families of the two saw the chats of them. When the two were firm in their relationship despite threats, the family sent them home. With this, all ways of contact were closed before them. Adhila’s father believed that his daughter's 'problem' could be solved if studied in a mixed college. Noora's family thought that after her marriage, their daughter could live like a normal person. They were also subjected for counselling.

Soon after her degree results were out, Adhila came to Kozhikode to meet Noora. They sought shelter in a voluntary organization. However, when Noora's family created a problem, the police intervened. Later, Adhila's relatives brought them to their house in Aluva. Noora's relatives forcibly took her away. Adhila was injured while trying to stop it.

Adhila shifted to a women's centre in Kochi as she was not able to continue in her house. Adhila's revelation of not getting any help from the police despite filing a complaint after Noora was abducted by her family, went viral. Adhila filed a habeas corpus plea in the high court seeking permission to live together. The court granted permission for this.
